Three group-meal formats compared: browse a market or food trucks, book a restaurant meal together, or arrange delivery to an approved venue.

Mount Dora gives an Orlando day trip a clear purpose this month: a fall celebration on Saturday evening, a downtown craft fair the following weekend, and several good ways to gather over a meal in between. The most enjoyable plan starts with what you want to spend time doing. Give the festival room to unfold, make a restaurant the occasion, or leave an afternoon open for the lakefront.

Our October 17 guide pairs those choices with details that make a real difference: a restaurant’s small-party limit, the gap between lunch and dinner, and where next weekend’s shuttle actually starts. Pick the combination that suits your people rather than trying to fit every stop into one visit.

Tonight, October 17: celebrate fall at Sunset Park

Mount Dora’s Fall Festival takes place Saturday, October 17, from 5–9 p.m., Eastern Time, at Sunset Park, 230 West Fourth Avenue. The city lists free admission, live music and art, children’s activities, food and drinks, a Parade of Scarecrows benefiting the Karla Kay Foundation, and a drone show. It is a useful choice for a family evening with more to enjoy than a single performance.

We would choose either an early restaurant meal or the festival’s food as the main dinner plan. A leisurely dinner reservation in the middle of the program can leave the group feeling pulled between two outings. Eating beforehand gives you time to settle into the festivities; eating there lets different appetites follow the evening’s choices.

Keep the plan comfortable for the youngest and oldest guests. Choose a clear place to regroup, allow time to get back to your vehicle, and let anyone who prefers a shorter evening leave without bringing the whole outing to an end.

October 24–25: give the Craft Fair its own day

The Mount Dora Craft Fair runs Saturday and Sunday, October 24–25, from 9 a.m.–5 p.m., Eastern Time, on the streets of historic downtown Mount Dora. The organizer lists more than 350 exhibitors, alongside festival food and music. Admission is free, with local shops open as well. This is the outing to choose when browsing, meeting makers and finding something unexpected are the point of the day.

Build in a proper meal break. A pair of friends may enjoy stopping whenever something catches their eye; a larger party will usually have a better time separating for a while and meeting again for lunch. Decide whether that reunion will be a flexible festival-food stop or a restaurant meal with a fixed time.

The organizer identifies limited accessible parking behind City Hall at 510 North Baker Street and says wheelchair and stroller rentals are unavailable at the event. Bring the equipment your group needs. Although well-behaved pets are permitted, the organizer strongly encourages leaving them home because the streets become crowded. These details matter more to a comfortable visit than trying to cover every booth.

Use the right shuttle, and leave time for the ride back

For the craft-fair weekend, the organizer’s shuttle information directs visitors to Mount Dora Christian Academy, 301 West 13th Avenue. Shuttles are listed for 9 a.m.–5:30 p.m., Eastern Time, on Saturday and Sunday, with parking at $10 per car, collected by the school. There are no shuttles from Mount Dora High School.

That 5:30 p.m. finish is worth remembering if you want to stay downtown for dinner after the fair closes. Make the return to your vehicle part of the evening plan instead of assuming the shuttle runs as late as the restaurants. For friends arriving separately, share the same parking destination before setting off; meeting at a specific entrance or restaurant is simpler than trying to locate one another among several rows of tents.

The Goblin Market: make a small-group meal the highlight

The Goblin Market, at 330 Dora Drawdy Way, is a good candidate when the meal deserves an unhurried place in the day. Its book-lined dining rooms and separate bar and lounge give this option a different feel from eating as you browse. The important planning limit is clear: parties are restricted to eight people or fewer.

Regular Saturday and Sunday lunch service is 11 a.m.–3 p.m., Eastern Time, and lunch reservations are not accepted. Dinner begins at 4:30 p.m.; regular closing is 9 p.m. Saturday and 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Eastern Time. Dinner reservations are recommended and taken by phone at 352-735-0059.

For a couple or a few friends, we would anchor the outing around dinner and leave the earlier hours for exploring. For a larger celebration, move straight to a restaurant with a group-dining arrangement rather than relying on separate tables to recreate one gathering.

PizzAmoré: a flexible family meal or a catering starting point

PizzAmoré at 722 East Fifth Avenue offers pizza, pasta, baked subs and wings, with regular daily hours of 11:30 a.m.–9 p.m., Eastern Time. That continuous schedule makes it worth considering when a morning of browsing turns into a later lunch. The menu also gives a family several directions without making the meal itself a complicated decision.

The restaurant advertises catering as well. For a gathering back at home or in an approved event space, that opens up a different kind of day: enjoy Mount Dora together, then return to a meal arranged around the group. Keep the catering conversation separate from a normal takeout order so the restaurant can confirm the appropriate quantities, service and timing.

We would choose pizza and pasta for a relaxed occasion where people want to talk and share. If a guest has a dietary requirement, settle ingredients and preparation with the restaurant before selecting communal dishes; a menu label alone does not answer every allergy question.

1921 Mount Dora: keep a late lunch on the table

1921 Mount Dora, at 142 East Fourth Avenue, lists Saturday and Sunday hours of 1–8:30 p.m., Eastern Time, and links to reservations through Resy. It is another useful option for an afternoon meal when some restaurants have already ended lunch service. Its visit page also welcomes private-booking inquiries.

Consider a later lunch if shopping is the main reason for coming. You can enjoy a morning at the fair, sit down together in the afternoon, and decide afterward whether anyone wants another look around. For tonight’s Fall Festival, an afternoon reservation could leave the evening free for Sunset Park.

The restaurant hours in this guide are the businesses’ posted regular schedules, checked October 17. Confirm any festival-weekend changes when reserving. A published opening time does not establish table availability, and a private-booking inquiry needs its own confirmed arrangement.

Pisces Rising: plan a gathering around the people

For a reunion, business dinner or celebration that needs an agreed space, Pisces Rising’s group-dining options are worth exploring. The restaurant, at 239 West Fourth Avenue, offers private and semi-private dining and group menus. It also advertises catering, so the conversation can begin with whether you want to bring everyone to the restaurant or host elsewhere.

Choose the atmosphere before fixing the seating arrangement. A celebration with a toast needs a different setup from colleagues catching up over dinner. Ask the event team which room and table arrangement best suit your group. A comfortable setup matters as much as fitting everyone into the room, especially when guests want to talk across the table.

Its regular Saturday schedule is 11:30 a.m.–3 p.m. and 5–10 p.m., Eastern Time; Sunday is 11 a.m.–3 p.m. and 5–9 p.m., Eastern Time. That afternoon break matters if you want lunch after a long morning outdoors. An arranged group meal gives everyone a reason to come back together.

Leave room for Lake Dora

If your group wants a quieter part of the outing, Palm Island Park, at 411 South Tremain Street, offers a boardwalk and trails through a wooded lakeside setting. The city lists picnic pavilions, benches and picnic tables. Nearby Grantham Point, at 311 South Tremain Street, is the lighthouse stop on Lake Dora, with benches and picnic tables of its own.

Choose the lakefront because people want time outside, and keep the length of the walk flexible. After browsing downtown, some guests may enjoy another walk while others would rather sit and talk. A short waterfront pause can be enough; it does not have to become another full activity to justify the stop.

For October 17, we would enjoy this part of the day before the evening festival. Follow posted conditions and any closures on arrival, and use the designated paths. Leave wildlife undisturbed and keep food packed away while walking.

For Orlando convention teams, make this a genuine day off

Mount Dora works best for convention visitors who have a meaningful block of free time. Save it for an extended stay, a companion’s outing or a day when the team is genuinely finished with the show. A tight interval between booth duties is better used for a meal close to the convention campus.

If some colleagues are exploring while others are working, give the two groups separate meal plans. For food at the Orange County Convention Center, the venue’s Sodexo Live! resources provide an exhibitor catering menu and online ordering. Work within the arrangements for your own event; a restaurant’s ability to cater does not establish permission to deliver onto the show floor.

Make the social invitation easy to accept. A clear meal time and an optional afternoon of browsing allow colleagues to join the part they will enjoy, without turning a free day into another demanding schedule.

Four delivery-planning checks: the correct location, approved access, a named recipient, and agreed pickup and arrival timing.
