Make the meal the part of the day everyone can agree on. College Park offers two useful directions: a vegetarian café lunch at Infusion Tea or a longer sit-down gathering at The Tap Room at Dubsdread. For visitors staying through the weekend, Saturday’s jazz and blues concert at Leu Gardens adds an evening worth planning around.
This October 15 edition is for people bringing colleagues, friends or visiting family together. We’ve paired the restaurant ideas with catering possibilities and a specific weekend event, so you can choose between going out and hosting where you already are. Convention teams should save the neighborhood trip for a real break from work; nobody enjoys dinner more because getting there became another deadline.
Infusion Tea: a vegetarian lunch with choices of its own
Infusion Tea, at 1600 Edgewater Drive, is a useful starting point when vegetarian food should be central to the meal. Its May 2026 food menu includes a tempeh taco salad, quiche and combinations built around bowls, greens, wraps or bread. That gives a small group room to choose different lunches while still sharing one destination.
For a relaxed catch-up, consider the afternoon-tea format: tea with a tiered selection of pastries and tea sandwiches, offered for two or more people. It gives the meeting a natural rhythm without requiring another activity afterward. If someone wants a full savory lunch, leave them that choice rather than making the whole group follow the same format.
The café’s published hours are Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m.–7 p.m., Eastern Time, with Sundays reserved for private events. Put this on the daytime shortlist. Guests with dietary requirements should discuss the actual dishes and preparation with the café; vegetarian choices alone do not establish that every item suits every guest.
Bring a plant-forward meal to the meeting
Infusion Tea also lists catering, including delivery. Its linked catering menu offers a plant-based taco bar, a morning-meeting package, grazing platters and tea or coffee by the container. The PDF is dated 2023 in its filename, so use those formats as a conversation starter and have the café confirm the current selection, quantities and quote.
For a morning workshop, breakfast and drinks can give arrivals a welcoming focal point before the first session. For lunch, a taco bar gives people more scope to build a substantial plate. A fruit-and-cheese platter may be useful alongside the meal, but it should not be the only plan for someone expecting lunch.
The right format depends on the room. A buffet needs a clear serving area, while a discussion-heavy meeting benefits from food that can be served without taking over the table. Settle the venue’s food arrangements first, then let the caterer help size the order. That is more useful than guessing quantities from a headcount alone.
The Tap Room: let dinner be the main occasion
The Tap Room at Dubsdread at 549 Par Street offers a different kind of gathering: a restaurant meal with indoor dining, patio and verandah options. The menu spans fish, steaks, salads and burgers. We’d shortlist it for a client dinner or a team meal where people want to settle in and spend time around one table.
Monday through Saturday hours are 11 a.m.–10 p.m., Eastern Time. The restaurant requests country-club-casual dress, a useful detail to share with visitors who have packed primarily for a trade-show floor or an afternoon outdoors. Ask about the seating you prefer when arranging the meal, especially if outside dining is part of the appeal.
A dinner here can stand on its own. For colleagues finishing at different times, choose an arrival that leaves room for everyone to get away from work, rather than tying the meal to a second booking immediately afterward. If the group is considering Saturday’s Leu Gardens concert, make an early dinner a deliberate choice and allow a separate travel and arrival window.
For a hosted gathering, ask about the room as well as the food
The Tap Room’s large-party information describes public dining areas and private rooms within Historic Dubsdread, with arrangements for groups from ten to larger celebrations. Menu approaches include ordinary restaurant selections, hors d’oeuvres, buffets and plated meals. Parties of ten or more are directed to call 407-650-0100 and press 1.
That range is useful when the event has a purpose beyond dinner. A welcome reception gives guests room to circulate; a seated meal gives a host a clear moment for remarks. Choose the style that makes the gathering work, then discuss the space and service together. A broad capacity range does not mean every room suits every layout.
For a small reunion, public restaurant seating may be all you need. For a business gathering with introductions or a presentation, ask about a private arrangement before sending invitations. Keep the first inquiry simple: the date, approximate group size and what you want people to enjoy. The venue can then explain the suitable options and current terms.
Saturday, October 17: jazz and blues at Leu Gardens
Leu Gardens’ Fall Jazz & Blues Concert runs Saturday, October 17, 7–10 p.m., Eastern Time, at 1920 North Forest Avenue. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. The announced lineup is Dave Capp Project, Backtrack Blues Band and Zazz Sings!, performing in three garden areas.
Guests may bring a picnic, drinks and chairs or a blanket. The organizer also lists food and beverage vendors, including The Gnarly Cuban and Foxtail Coffee. Choose the picnic if sharing the meal is part of the evening; choose vendor food if carrying less makes the outing easier. Pets, tents and grills are prohibited.
Tickets are sold online; check availability before committing the group. Tickets are nonrefundable unless Leu Gardens cancels the event, when refunds are automatic. Bands may change. Free parking is listed at the gardens and Blue Jacket Park, 2501 General Rees Avenue, with shuttle service from 6–10:30 p.m., Eastern Time; off-site parking is limited.
Agree on a meeting point before entering. Three performance areas make exploration appealing, but friends may want different music or different amounts of walking.
Prefer a daytime visit? Keep Saturday’s earlier closing in mind
A garden afternoon is another way to use the weekend, especially for companions who have daytime freedom while someone else works. Leu Gardens’ Fall Into the Gardens seasonal displays and garden chicken hunt continue through November 2, with general garden admission applying. It is a separate daytime idea from the ticketed Saturday concert.
The admission and hours page lists regular fall hours of 9 a.m.–5 p.m., with final entry at 4 p.m., Eastern Time. Saturday, October 17 closes earlier, at 4 p.m., with last admission at 3 p.m. The Historic Leu House Museum is temporarily closed.
We’d put the gardens before a College Park dinner if you want both, leaving the meal as the place to reconnect. For someone who would rather skip the walk, meeting at the restaurant keeps the day inclusive without requiring everyone to follow an identical itinerary.
Do not build a continuous afternoon-to-concert visit around a daytime ticket. Special evening admission and the early closure need their own arrangements. Pick the garden experience you actually want, then make the meal complement it.
Keep the show-day meal close to the people working
For visitors based at the Orange County Convention Center, College Park is an off-site outing to enjoy when the schedule allows. Keep a short booth-duty lunch near the people working, and offer the neighborhood meal after commitments have finished. A host can make dinner inviting without making attendance another obligation for an exhausted team.
On-campus food planning starts with OCCC’s Sodexo Live! resources, which include an exhibitor catering menu and online ordering. Retail food operations are cashless, accepting credit cards or approved vouchers. Use your event’s arrangements to establish what is available and where meals may be received.
For an approved off-site meeting-room delivery, one agreed arrival point is enough to prevent avoidable confusion. Identify the receiving person and the correct entrance so the host can stay with the guests. An outside restaurant’s catering service does not itself establish access to a convention hall.
Keep restaurant bookings, catering orders and event tickets aligned with the same headcount. If the social outing is optional, count those guests separately from the people who need lunch at work.
