Make Winter Garden the place where the workweek gives way to a proper outing. This October 9–11 weekend, downtown has Friday evening music, performances of Footloose and a Saturday farmers market, with several different ways to gather over food. A relaxed market meal suits people arriving at different times; a reserved dinner gives a client or team gathering a more settled shape.
For convention visitors, this is an off-site destination worth giving its own afternoon or evening. Keep the meal and entertainment in the same part of the plan rather than squeezing Winter Garden between appointments on International Drive. If colleagues are staying through the weekend, let dinner be the shared invitation and make the extra browsing optional.
Friday evening: an easygoing start at Centennial Plaza
Fridays on the Plaza brings free live music to the Centennial Plaza Gazebo in historic downtown Winter Garden on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 7–9 p.m. Eastern Time. We’d choose it for a casual evening with colleagues who want to spend time together without committing to a full performance or a formal reception.
Dinner first makes this especially comfortable: everyone gets a chance to catch up at the table, then those who want music can continue to the plaza. A small group can keep the evening loose, while a host bringing a larger party should arrange the meal separately. The public music program is a shared community event, so it should not be treated as reserved entertainment for a company gathering.
Leave the outdoor portion flexible if conditions change. There is no need to fill the whole evening; a meal and part of the music program can be plenty after a busy exhibition day. Anyone joining late will have a clear destination in the gazebo area rather than a moving restaurant-to-restaurant plan.
Footloose: give the show a clear place in the evening
For a more structured outing, Garden Theatre on Plant, at 160 West Plant Street, has Footloose: The Musical on the weekend calendar. The city lists evening performances on October 9, 10 and 11 from 7–9:30 p.m., plus a Saturday, October 10 matinee from 2–4:30 p.m., all Eastern Time. Follow the ticket link from the official listing for the intended performance and current seating.
The Saturday matinee is a useful choice for visitors who want a daytime activity followed by an early dinner. An evening performance works better with an unrushed meal beforehand. Either way, put the curtain time at the center of the arrangement and allow a comfortable walk to the theatre; a long restaurant wait is less enjoyable when everyone keeps checking the clock.
For a team outing, make the performance optional until people have confirmed they want to attend. Some guests may prefer to join only for the meal. That still gives the group a shared occasion while keeping the theatre visit enjoyable for the people who chose it.
Saturday morning: browse the farmers market at your own pace
The Winter Garden Farmers Market runs every Saturday from 8 a.m.–1 p.m. Eastern Time at the Downtown Pavilion, 104 South Lakeview Avenue. The city’s October calendar also confirms the October 10 date. Produce, baked goods, specialty foods and locally made products make this a useful outing for visitors who enjoy choosing a few things as they go.
We’d keep this part of the weekend informal. A couple or small group can browse together; a larger party is likely to have a better time splitting into smaller groups and meeting again for lunch. People interested in ingredients can linger with food vendors, while others can focus on crafts or a snack.
If the group has theatre tickets that afternoon, finish the market visit with time to eat and settle in before the show. Guests heading back to a hotel should choose purchases that suit the storage they actually have. A morning of browsing is most pleasant when nobody is responsible for turning everyone’s separate purchases into an organized lunch.
Plant Street Market: different appetites, one destination
Plant Street Market, at 426 West Plant Street, gives a casual group a range of food counters alongside Crooked Can Brewing. The directory includes Michael’s Ali Coal Fired Pizza, JAM Hot Chicken, NOSH, Morthan Cheese and sweet options such as Sir Benji’s Donuts. It is a good fit when the conversation can happen around people ordering separately.
The individual counter hours matter more than the market’s late closing time. Michael’s Ali lists Friday hours of 11:30 a.m.–10 p.m. and Saturday hours of 11 a.m.–10 p.m.; JAM Hot Chicken lists 11 a.m.–9 p.m. and NOSH 11 a.m.–10 p.m. on both days, Eastern Time. Choose an earlier dinner if several different counters are part of the appeal, particularly before a 7 p.m. show.
Plant Street Market suits a casual meal where everyone can choose a different counter. For a hosted event with reserved seating, arrange space with the venue in advance.
Chef’s Table and The Tasting Room: choose the right dinner format
Chef’s Table at the Edgewater, at 99 West Plant Street, offers a three-course dinner with choices within each course. Reservations are strongly encouraged. We’d consider it for a small client meal or a celebration where the dinner itself deserves attention and there is time to enjoy the courses.
The same business also operates The Tasting Room, with small plates, some entrées and a more casual setting. It uses same-day text-ahead seating on a first-come, first-served basis rather than ordinary reservations. That distinction matters before a theatre performance: a seating request should not be treated as a guaranteed table at a fixed time.
For a larger hosted occasion, the restaurant has a private-dining program. Its menus follow seasonal market availability, and a room is held only with a deposit and signed contract. We’d explore that option when the group needs its own space for remarks or a celebratory dinner. The choice is really about the kind of evening you want: an intimate coursed meal, a casual small-plates gathering or a privately arranged occasion.
4 Rivers: a barbecue stop or a meal at your gathering
For a barbecue option away from the Plant Street dining cluster, 4 Rivers Smokehouse Winter Garden is at 1047 South Dillard Street. Posted hours are 11 a.m.–9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m.–7 p.m. on Sunday, Eastern Time. The location offers ordinary pickup and delivery ordering as well as a separate catering route.
That gives a group two useful choices. Eat at the restaurant when leaving the meeting room is part of the break, or consider catering for an approved off-site gathering where people would rather stay together. The published catering-delivery option requires 24 hours’ notice, so it belongs in tomorrow’s plan rather than being assumed available for an immediate meal.
A shared barbecue meal can work well for a relaxed team occasion, with individual alternatives for anyone whose needs differ from the main spread. Think about the whole table: sides, drinks and a suitable meal for each guest matter more than simply ordering extra meat. For a timed program, an arranged serving setup also helps guests eat comfortably before the next activity begins.
For exhibitors: keep the off-site meal separate from booth catering
A Winter Garden dinner is a welcome way to gather after work, but meals inside the Orange County Convention Center follow a different route. The center’s Sodexo Live! resources include exhibitor catering and online ordering. That is the starting point for food needed at the booth or within the convention facilities; restaurant delivery does not itself establish permission to bring food onto the campus.
The OCCC food-service page also identifies its retail operation as cashless, accepting credit cards or approved vouchers. Available concepts are arranged for the event, so a general directory of food options is not a promise that every counter will be operating during a particular show. A booth team is better served by the arrangements made for its own event.
For the off-site dinner, give colleagues a little space between finishing their work and arriving at the restaurant. People may need to return to a hotel, change or put away materials. A later, comfortable gathering is often more useful than an ambitious itinerary that leaves the group arriving in stages and feeling hurried.
