Three group meal formats: flexible food-counter browsing, a restaurant booking and arranged delivery to an approved venue

Give the group a choice of evenings: music and casual food at Boxi Park, a table of shared plates at Chroma, or a lakeside meal at Canvas. Lake Nona offers several good reasons to make dinner the outing, with public art providing a pleasant extra stop when there is time.

This October 8 edition starts with Boxi Park’s four-day music weekend and then looks at meals for different occasions, from a relaxed pizza gathering to a more dressed-up dinner. For convention visitors, leave a comfortable travel window from International Drive and meet at one named venue. Guests who have a free afternoon can explore earlier; those finishing work can join for the meal.

Boxi Park: pick your decade for October 8–11

Dancing Through the Decades brings four themes to Boxi Park, at 6877 Tavistock Lakes Boulevard, from Thursday, October 8, through Sunday, October 11, 2026. Thursday leans into the 1970s with DJ Todd; Friday moves to the 1980s with SWITCH. Saturday’s 1990s lineup includes David Julia, DJ Digital and No Filter’s Tempo Tantrum, before Sunday turns to the 2000s and emo with SideQuest and If I’m Lucky.

Park hours are Thursday, 5–10 p.m.; Friday, 5–11 p.m.; Saturday, noon–11 p.m.; and Sunday, noon–9 p.m., Eastern Time. Those are opening hours, so use the entertainment schedule for individual performances. Sunday also lists bounce houses from noon and face painters and balloon artists from 1 p.m. Eastern Time, making the earlier part of that day a useful family option.

The outdoor food counters give people room to follow different appetites, with tacos, burgers and lobster rolls among the choices. We’d choose Boxi for a social evening where music is part of the point. A reserved table near the stage is offered with preordered food-and-drink packages; casual visitors should keep seating flexible. The park is cashless. Its rules prohibit coolers, large backpacks and suitcases, so leave travel bags at the hotel before heading over.

Chroma: shared plates for a table that wants to linger

Chroma Modern Bar + Kitchen, at 6967 Lake Nona Boulevard, offers contemporary tapas in Lake Nona Town Center. We’d consider it for friends or colleagues who enjoy comparing dishes and passing plates around. Choose a spread that gives everyone a satisfying meal, with separate dishes where preferences or dietary needs call for them.

For this Thursday, the restaurant’s posted hours are 11 a.m.–11 p.m. Eastern Time. Weekend brunch runs from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Eastern Time, offering another way to gather if the group prefers a daytime meal. Choose the meal period that fits the people coming: a late-morning brunch can leave the afternoon open, while dinner gives colleagues a chance to reunite after separate schedules.

Chroma also offers private and semi-private dining for hosted gatherings. The restaurant can help confirm the space and menu for your group, including separate dishes where guests need them.

Canvas: lakeside dining with an art stop on Sachs Avenue

Canvas Restaurant & Market, at 13615 Sachs Avenue in Laureate Park, is our direction for a group that wants a lakeside setting. Restaurant hours are Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m.–10 p.m.; Friday, 11 a.m.–11 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.–11 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m.–9 p.m., Eastern Time. This is a separate destination from the Town Center restaurants, so give guests the Sachs Avenue address.

For an organized gathering, Canvas’s group-dining options include the private Amber Room with 24 seated places, Sapphire Room with 50 and Mosaic Room with 60. Those published room sizes help narrow the conversation; the event layout and date still need confirmation. We’d favor a private room for a dinner with a presentation, while a smaller social meal can center on the ordinary restaurant experience.

There is a worthwhile visual detour at the same address: The Glass House, by Tom Fruin. The installation uses reclaimed materials and belongs to the artist’s ICON Series. Lake Nona includes it among its public art destinations. A short look before or after the meal gives the outing a little more character without asking everyone to commit to a second major activity.

Park Pizza: an easygoing gathering or a meal brought to you

Park Pizza & Brewing Co., at 6941 Lake Nona Boulevard, offers wood-fired pizza and house-brewed beer, with a dining room, bar and patio. It opens daily at 11 a.m. Eastern Time and offers dine-in, takeout and delivery. Pizza is a useful starting point for a casual reunion because people can share several choices without turning dinner into a formal occasion.

For an office celebration or team lunch, the restaurant’s group-dining page lists custom menus for 12–200 guests, indoor and outdoor semi-private facilities, and a catering inquiry option. We’d use the group arrangement when everyone needs to eat together at an agreed time. A regular delivery order and a catered gathering can involve different quantities, serving arrangements and lead times, so the restaurant should confirm the fit.

If lunch is coming to an approved meeting room, give the food a proper place to land and let the break feel like a break. A clear table is more welcoming than a stack of boxes competing with laptops. Silver Platter Logistics’ personal catering concierge can help bring the meal and local logistics together, with one contact for the details.

BACÁN: make a special dinner the whole evening

For a more dressed-up gathering, BACÁN at Lake Nona Wave Hotel, 6100 Wave Hotel Drive, builds its dinner around flavors of the Americas and an open kitchen. This is our choice to explore for a small celebration or a client meal when the restaurant itself should carry the evening. Give it room in the schedule rather than treating it as a quick stop before a concert.

Dinner hours are Sunday through Thursday, 5:30–9:30 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 5:30–10 p.m., Eastern Time. Reservations are required, the dress code is smart casual, and the restaurant is cashless. Parties of six or more have an automatic gratuity applied. These details are worth including in the invitation so everyone arrives comfortable with the plan.

BACÁN accepts private-dinner and event inquiries, but decorations are not permitted in the dining room. For a celebration, let the meal and the company do the work. The restaurant can confirm the current menu, dietary arrangements and the appropriate setting for the party before a host commits.

The Sculpture Garden: a flexible outdoor pause

Lake Nona’s Sculpture Garden, beside the Wave Hotel, covers 50,000 square feet with walking paths, landscaping and sculptures from The Lewis Collection. The community’s 2026 public-art guide identifies it as open to the public. It is a natural option for people who would enjoy looking at art outdoors before a Town Center dinner.

The garden features artists including Henry Moore, Philip Jackson and Arturo di Modica, and Lake Nona describes the collection as evolving over time. A future visit may bring a different selection, so enjoy what is on view rather than promising guests a particular work. Keep the walk comfortable for the group and let outdoor conditions guide whether it belongs in the day.

We’d treat the garden as an optional addition for anyone arriving early, rather than making every dinner guest arrive well ahead of the reservation. No fixed public visiting schedule was published on the pages checked, so the Wave Hotel is the right place to confirm access for a special trip. Public access also does not reserve the space for a private reception.

Food-industry look-ahead: Gordon’s Orlando show on October 14

For local catering and restaurant teams, the Gordon Food Service Orlando Show takes place Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Eastern Time in OCCC West Hall E, at 9800 International Drive. Its program includes product exhibits and discussions about foodservice operations. This is a business-planning opportunity for eligible attendees, with time afterward for a separately arranged off-site meal.

Check eligibility before building a visit around it: Gordon’s attendance guidance limits the shows to verified customers and closes them to the general public. Prospective customers are directed to the organizer about attendance. The Orlando page also sets age and wheeled-cart restrictions, so a business visit should follow its registration and arrival instructions.

Exhibitors should keep their own staff meals within the show’s food-and-beverage rules. Outside food and beverages for staff or attendees are prohibited apart from approved sampling; Sodexo Live! handles on-site food service. Save the Lake Nona restaurant ideas for an off-site gathering with enough time for the journey.
