Give the end of a convention day something worth looking forward to: a Turkish spread, a table of Italian favorites or a relaxed Mexican dinner with colleagues. Orlando’s Restaurant Row, along Sand Lake Road near the convention district, offers enough variety to make dinner feel like an occasion without building the evening around several stops.
For this October 7 guide, we’re looking at three restaurants with different strengths, plus catering for a future gathering and a nearby daytime park break. METALCON visitors have one extra reason to consider the calendar before choosing a dinner time: the show’s anniversary celebration runs into this evening. Whether you’re hosting clients, feeding a booth team or joining someone after their workday, choose the part you want to enjoy together and give it a comfortable amount of time.
METALCON: leave room for the anniversary evening
METALCON 2026 runs October 7–9 in Orange County Convention Center Hall South A, at 9899 International Drive. The exhibit floor is open Wednesday and Thursday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m.–1 p.m., Eastern Time. Keynote presentations begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, an important distinction for anyone planning breakfast before arriving.
The organizer’s 35th Anniversary Bash is scheduled for Wednesday, October 7, from 5–7 p.m. Eastern Time, with food, drinks and entertainment. The networking page includes it among events covered by METALCON registration unless otherwise noted. Follow the event listing for participation details. For a team attending the celebration, Thursday, October 8, may be the more comfortable night for a separate hosted dinner; a Wednesday reservation should leave room for the event and the journey afterward.
Friday’s earlier floor closing creates a different possibility: lunch together before people leave Orlando. Keep departure plans realistic, especially for exhibitors with wrap-up responsibilities. METALCON will not offer bag check at the OCCC, so settle luggage arrangements with the hotel before combining checkout, the show and a restaurant stop. That small decision can keep the final meal from turning into a gathering around suitcases.
North Italia: an Italian dinner, or a Friday lunch
North Italia Orlando, at 7335 West Sand Lake Road, Suite 143, serves weekday lunch from 11 a.m.–4 p.m. Dinner hours are Sunday through Thursday, 4–10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 4–11 p.m., Eastern Time. Saturday and Sunday brunch runs from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. The weekday lunch window makes this a useful possibility after METALCON’s Friday floor closing if the group has time before traveling.
The menu brings pasta, pizza, salads and shared starters into the same meal. We’d consider it for colleagues whose appetites vary but who want a familiar, seated dinner. A few appetizers for the table can give people something to enjoy while catching up, with individual mains keeping the rest of the order straightforward.
For a future larger gathering, the restaurant offers group dining, including plated and reception-style menus. A seated arrangement suits a shared conversation; a reception gives introductions and mingling more room. North Italia’s group-dining guidance requests menu selections two weeks before an event, so treat this as an advance-planning option. The Orlando events team can confirm the space and terms for the occasion.
Bosphorous: a Turkish meal made for sharing
Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine is at 7600 Dr. Phillips Boulevard, beside the Sand Lake dining area. The restaurant’s Anatolian menu includes dips, salads, made-to-order breads, pides and meat dishes. This is our direction for a group that would enjoy beginning with a shared selection before choosing individual dishes.
The restaurant describes its food as using halal meats and identifies vegetarian and gluten-free menu options. Those are useful starting points when a host is trying to include different preferences. Let each guest’s actual requirements guide the final selection, with the restaurant confirming ingredients and preparation where needed. A varied table is most welcoming when people can comfortably choose what works for them.
Bosphorous accepts group-dining inquiries. Use the Dr. Phillips location for this outing; the business also has restaurants in Winter Park, Lake Nona and Winter Garden. We’d make this the main meal of the evening and leave time for people to talk over it. If colleagues are arriving from different hotels, one clearly named restaurant is a much easier reunion point than a general invitation to meet on Restaurant Row.
Rocco’s Tacos: a social dinner with room for a bigger event
For a Mexican meal, Rocco’s Tacos & Tequila Bar is at 7468 West Sand Lake Road. Wednesday and Thursday hours are 11:30 a.m.–11 p.m. Eastern Time, with lunch and dinner offered daily. Tableside guacamole and tacos give the meal an easy shared beginning, while the Orlando menu also includes bowls, salads and larger entrées.
We’d consider this for a sociable team dinner where the aim is to spend time together after work. If the evening includes a speech, presentation or discussion that needs privacy, choose the event space around that purpose. The restaurant’s Orlando events page advertises private and semi-private arrangements for up to 150 guests. That is a planning lead, with the actual layout and date still to be confirmed.
For a smaller dinner, arrange a table and give the group one arrival time. For a larger hosted occasion, agree on the menu and say whether the invitation is for dinner or a reception.
For the next gathering: give catering its proper lead time
Rocco’s Catering To Go menu lists takeout and delivery, with all orders booked seven days ahead and a deposit required. As of Wednesday, October 7, that makes it a lead for a later gathering, rather than a plan to rely on for this week’s remaining METALCON lunches. Its options include a guacamole bar, a nacho bar, larger-format entrées and sides.
That kind of menu can suit an off-site team lunch where people want a casual meal and a little choice. Think about how the food will be enjoyed in the room: a buffet works best when there is space to serve, while a tightly scheduled meeting may call for an arrangement that is quicker to distribute. A generous food selection loses some of its appeal if everyone spends the break waiting in one long line.
For hosts planning ahead, the restaurant and receiving venue can settle serving arrangements before the day arrives. An approved meeting room with a ready table lets everyone leave their laptops for a proper break. Keep the arrival close to when people will eat, and let the agreed setup carry the meal smoothly into the meeting.
A daytime breather at Dr. P. Phillips Community Park
Companions with a free morning, or colleagues staying beyond the show, can consider Dr. P. Phillips Community Park, at 8249 Buenavista Woods Boulevard. Orange County lists trails, picnic areas, a playground and other recreation facilities across the 43-acre park. Its seasonal hours are 8 a.m.–8 p.m. in summer and 8 a.m.–6 p.m. in winter, Eastern Time; a daytime visit is the simplest fit around a later meal.
The county’s LongHorn Steakhouse Loop guide describes a 0.6-mile interpretive trail with benches and an observation area overlooking Big Sand Lake. It also notes that much of the trail is in full sun, with sandy ground, roots and other uneven footing. Choose footwear and the length of the visit around the people coming, and bring water.
We’d pair a modest walk with lunch afterward for guests who want a change of setting. Keep a larger organized picnic separate from a casual park visit: the county currently requires at least 45 days to schedule rentals. A pavilion gathering therefore belongs in an advance plan, with the space confirmed before catering is arranged.
Keep show-day lunch close and save the reunion for dinner
For teams working the convention floor, the easiest meal may be the one that protects the lunch break. Sodexo Live!’s OCCC resources include an exhibitor-catering menu and online ordering. The center’s retail food operations are cashless, accepting credit cards or approved vouchers. Establish which options serve your particular event before promising the team a specific counter or menu.
A small booth team can stagger lunch so someone remains available for visitors, then enjoy a shared dinner once the floor closes. That avoids asking one short break to cover leaving the building, traveling to a restaurant, eating and returning. For an on-site group order, the venue and show’s catering rules govern the arrangement, including whether outside food is allowed and where it may be received.
Off-site catering has its own receiving arrangements. A settled handoff, with the correct location and someone expecting the food, lets the people in the meeting stay focused on their guests. Once the lunch plan is comfortable, dinner can be a genuine chance to relax. Choose North Italia for an Italian meal, Bosphorous for a Turkish spread or Rocco’s for a Mexican gathering, and give the evening one clear destination.
