Start with the kind of day you want, then choose the area. This October 3–4 weekend offers a home-and-garden show and a wedding expo at the OCCC, a food-shopping morning in Winter Garden, an evening of food trucks in Clermont and a hands-on art outing in Maitland. Each can anchor a good day without adding a long string of stops.
If you’re coming for work, give meals and local errands their own place in the plan. A settled dinner reservation or an agreed delivery handoff leaves more room for the people you came to see. That is especially useful for exhibitors arriving before METALCON on October 7–9. Here are the local options we’d consider, along with the details that make each one easier to enjoy.
At the OCCC: a free-admission Home & Garden Show
Bring the home project you want to move forward to the Orlando Fall Home & Garden Show. Admission is free, and the October 2–4 show is in the OCCC’s West Concourse, Halls B2 and B3, at 9800 International Drive. Weekend hours are Saturday, October 3, 10 a.m.–6 p.m., and Sunday, October 4, 11 a.m.–5 p.m., Eastern Time.
A photo and a rough measurement can make a conversation with a vendor much more useful. They give you something specific to discuss, whether you’re comparing ideas or trying to understand what a job would involve. If people in your group want to explore different projects, choose a place to meet again and let everyone spend time on what interests them.
Allow for OCCC parking separately from admission. Payment is cashless, and rates vary by vehicle size and entry time. Follow the signs and the show’s parking directions for your hall, then save your parking location before heading inside.
Sunday: turn wedding inspiration into a workable shortlist
Sunday’s Florida Bridal & Wedding Expo is a chance to meet several wedding businesses in one afternoon. For October 4, Wedding Venue Map lists 12:30–5 p.m. Eastern Time in OCCC Hall WE2, at 9800 International Drive, with free advance registration or $10 admission at the door. Use the linked registration page for the current ticket terms.
Go in with the parts of the wedding you still need help with. A guest-count range and possible dates give vendors enough context to have a useful conversation without requiring every detail to be settled. With catering, compare what the whole service includes: delivery, setup, staff, rentals and cleanup can matter as much as the food. A written proposal that includes taxes and service charges makes it easier to compare the options afterward.
Saturday morning: food shopping in downtown Winter Garden
For a small group that enjoys browsing, make Saturday morning a Winter Garden Farmers Market outing. The year-round market runs from 8 a.m.–1 p.m. Eastern Time at the Downtown Pavilion, 104 South Lakeview Avenue, with produce, baked goods, prepared specialties and artisan products. Free downtown parking includes the garage at 160 South Boyd Street.
Let everyone follow their own appetite and meet again at a set time. That works better than trying to keep the group together through every queue. If you’re taking food back to a hotel or vacation rental, choose purchases that fit the storage you have and when you expect to eat them. Keep a time-sensitive group lunch separate so the browsing can stay relaxed.
Check the market’s announcements if weather might affect the trip. The market prohibits unauthorized vending and solicitation, so keep promotional activity separate from a shopping visit unless the organizer has approved it.
Saturday evening: Clermont’s Family Food Fest
On the west side of the region, Clermont’s Family Food Fest offers an easygoing food outing for Saturday, October 3, from 4–8 p.m. Eastern Time in downtown Clermont. Food trucks, live music and family activities give people several ways to enjoy the evening. The truck lineup changes, so let this visit’s selection guide the meal.
A food-truck evening works well when nobody needs every order to arrive together. Pick somewhere to regroup after ordering and leave enough time for different queues. Anyone with dietary needs should speak to the individual vendor about ingredients before choosing a meal.
If you’re interested in vending, work directly with Clermont Main Street. It warns that it does not book vendors through outside event companies or private individuals. An unsolicited offer of a last-minute space on social media is a reason to contact the organizer before making any commitment.
A family option in Maitland: a free art morning
For family members who would enjoy making something, Fall Family Day at Art & History Museums – Maitland includes a paper-lantern workshop, art activities, face painting, a scavenger hunt and museum access. The free event is Saturday, October 3, from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. Eastern Time at 231 West Packwood Avenue. Registration is available through the museum’s event page.
This is a different way to spend the morning while others attend an expo. Give each part of the group its own transportation and meet afterward, so nobody has to cut a good visit short for a cross-town pickup. A later meal can be the shared part of the day.

Feeding a group: two different arrangements to consider
If the meal is when you want everyone together, give it a firm place in the day. A restaurant reservation or arranged delivery is easier to plan around than several food-truck queues, particularly when people are coming from different activities.
For a shared-plates dinner, consider Café Tu Tu Tango at 8625 International Drive. Its small-plates menu includes the “Tour of Tango” tasting option for groups of six or more, and the restaurant accepts private-event inquiries. This format suits a social meal where passing dishes is part of the conversation. The restaurant can confirm a menu and seating arrangement that work for your group’s needs.
For a larger gathering, Rodizio Grill in Orlando has private and semi-private spaces for corporate events, wedding gatherings and family groups. Start with the room that fits the occasion and headcount, then settle the event menu and full booking terms, including the deposit and cancellation arrangements.
For a delivered meal, SPL can help coordinate the approved receiving point and requested setup. Agree on who will accept the food, so the host can stay with the guests.

Exhibitor note: confirm the food rules before ordering
For food at an OCCC booth, start with Sodexo Live!, the center’s food-and-beverage service partner. Its exhibitor-catering resources are the relevant starting point for that setting. Confirm the venue and show-management rules before ordering food from elsewhere.
Food permissions can be specific to the show. The Gordon Food Service Orlando show, for example, restricts outside food and beverages for staff and attendees apart from approved sampling. An exception at another event may not apply to yours. Off-site meals can be planned separately around the receiving hotel or venue’s requirements.
The same practical care helps with printing and supplies. Agree on an allowed handoff location and who will meet the order; a booth number alone does not establish delivery access. Confirm that printed materials are finished before arranging collection, so the local run starts when there is something ready to collect.
Getting around International Drive without a rushed connection
The I-RIDE Trolley can suit an unhurried outing along International Drive. Service runs daily from 8 a.m.–10:30 p.m. Eastern Time, with approximate intervals of 20 minutes on the Red Line and 60 minutes on the Green Line. Traffic, weather and demand affect those intervals.
Check that your stops are on the route and look at live arrivals before boarding. Cash fares require exact change, passes are not sold on board, and food and drink are not allowed on the trolley. If you have a presentation, a meal handoff or another fixed appointment, choose transportation with enough time to absorb a wait. The trolley is easier to enjoy when a delayed arrival won’t put the rest of the day under pressure.
Looking ahead: METALCON arrives October 7–9
METALCON 2026 takes place in OCCC Hall South A, at 9899 International Drive. Show-floor hours are Wednesday and Thursday, October 7–8, 10 a.m.–5 p.m., and Friday, October 9, 9 a.m.–1 p.m., Eastern Time. Registration is required, with the appropriate package depending on your role.
Use that South A address in meeting plans so nobody follows directions left over from a West Concourse event. There will be no bag check at the OCCC for METALCON, and people under 18 are not permitted. Settle luggage arrangements with your hotel before planning to go straight from the final show session to your next destination.
For exhibitors, a little preparation before arrival frees up time once the floor gets busy. Confirm where meals and local supplies can be received, and keep move-in instructions separate from attendee hours. If something is delayed, agree on the allowed handoff before arranging the pickup. That gives everyone involved a clear destination and lets the booth team keep working.
